EQ Trainer ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application EQ Trainer (the "App"), available on the Apple App Store.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Account Information: When you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple ID identifier and, if you choose to share it, your name and email address. Apple's "Hide My Email" feature is fully supported.
  • Conversation Data: The messages you type or speak during training scenarios are sent to our servers to generate AI responses. These messages are processed in real-time and are not permanently stored on our servers.
  • Voice Data: If you use voice input, speech recognition is performed on-device using Apple's Speech framework. Raw audio is never transmitted to our servers.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Training Progress: Your training history (scenarios completed, scores, practice streaks) is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
  • Device Information: We may collect basic device information (device model, operating system version) for app compatibility and crash reporting purposes.

Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect location data.
  • We do not access your contacts, photos, or other personal files.
  • We do not use cookies or tracking technologies in the App.
  • We do not share your data with third-party advertisers.
  • We do not sell your personal information.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain the App's AI-powered conversation training features.
  • Process your conversation inputs and generate AI responses during training sessions.
  • Generate text-to-speech audio for AI character responses.
  • Authenticate your identity and manage your account.
  • Process subscription purchases through Apple's StoreKit framework.
  • Improve and optimize the App's performance and user experience.
  • Respond to your support requests and inquiries.

Data Processing and AI

Our App uses AI language models to generate dialogue responses, feedback, and expert demonstrations. When you engage in a training scenario:

  • Your conversation messages are sent to our backend servers over an encrypted HTTPS connection.
  • Our servers process your messages using OpenAI-compatible AI models to generate responses.
  • The conversation context is maintained only for the duration of the active training session.
  • Our backend is stateless — we do not store conversation histories on our servers after the session ends.
  • Text-to-speech audio is generated in real-time and streamed to your device.

Data Storage and Security

  • Local Storage: Training progress, user preferences, and session history are stored locally on your device using Apple's secure storage frameworks (SwiftData, UserDefaults).
  • Server Processing: Our backend servers (hosted on Google Cloud Run) process conversation data transiently. No conversation data is persisted on our servers.
  • Encryption: All data transmitted between the App and our servers is encrypted using TLS/HTTPS.
  • Authentication: We use Apple Sign In, which leverages Apple's industry-leading security infrastructure.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Apple (Sign In, StoreKit): For authentication and subscription management. Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • OpenAI: For AI language model processing and text-to-speech generation. Conversation data is processed through OpenAI's API. Subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
  • Google Cloud: Our backend infrastructure is hosted on Google Cloud Run. Subject to Google Cloud's Privacy Policy.

Subscriptions and Payments

Subscription purchases are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit 2. We do not collect, process, or store any payment information. All billing is managed through your Apple ID account.

Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information. Since conversation data is not stored on our servers, you can delete local data by uninstalling the App.
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • Portability: Request your data in a portable format.
  • Opt-out: You can stop using voice features at any time. You can sign out of your Apple ID within the App.

Data Retention

We retain your Apple ID authentication token only while your account is active. Conversation data is processed transiently and not retained after each session. Local training data remains on your device until you delete the App or clear its data.

International Data Transfers

Our servers are located in the United States (Google Cloud, us-central1 region). If you access the App from outside the United States, your conversation data will be transferred to and processed in the United States. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
